What was the brief?
When Swansea University approached us to refresh the student recruitment campaign videos we created with them in 2015, we jumped at the chance to head back to the beach!
The brief was to create three new films, focusing on two students and an academic, all of whom feature as ‘icons’ in the new campaign.
How did we approach the brief?
As the project called on us replicate a series of films from three years ago, we knew what was needed to get this right. However, having grown and developed in that time, we had new skills, techniques and equipment to enhance the production values.
We focused on both their academic and social lives, showing the icons learning and living on campus, as well as the amazing surrounding areas of South Wales.
We filmed for a day each with students Alex and Emily, as well as the academic Lella. Each shoot day allow for the perfect amount of time to get the best content for each icon, and each film shows this.
Towards the end of the project, Swansea were so impressed with Alex’s film that they asked us to repurpose and clear the film as a TV ad for Welsh channel S4C. We added a voice-over (in both Welsh and English) and had the ad retrospectively cleared by Clearcast and trafficked to the channel.

The final films were a great addition to the campaign, and we have since gone on to create a new student experience film using footage from this shoot as well as other films we and others have produced.
