Our Approach
Queen Mary University of London commissioned Maia Films to produce a film that demonstrated the individualised, tailored support that the university offers its students in every part of their career journey.
Our concept told the story of three characters all framed around the question – what door did QMUL open for you?
We profiled an entrepreneur who had started their own business with help from QMUL, a local student who had maximised their potential at QMUL, and a recent graduate in a brilliant entry level job.
The director and crew captured elegant, honest footage of the students either at work, studying on campus or at home, with voiceovers provided by a heartfelt, conversational interview. There were no talking heads or overly scripted lines which made the film feel at once very documentarian but also intimate and inspiring.
The visual story was told through subtle motifs – our heroes were framed within doorframes or walking through doors – as well as images of their journey i.e. striding along corridors and pavements with purpose or travelling to work.
